My aspirations as a child were ...more I'm an art director, copywriter and graphic designer with 22 years experience in advertising, branding and design. My aspirations as a child were to be a zombie-slaying, ghost-busting, Millennium-Falcon-piloting Knightrider from the future who also did some drawing. Finding this all too perilous and time consuming, I ended up ditching all but the drawing which led to an initial career in architecture. There I might have stayed, but for a chance encounter with someone who knew a guy that had once had a drink with a friend whose best mate's girlfriend had dated this guy who had heard from his sister's half-brother that someone who had once been at a party had heard of a job at an advertising agency called KWL and apparently you didn't have to wear a suit. This information led me to re-evaluate my career path. So I moved into advertising and discovered my empty white piece of paper didn't have to only be filled with building sections and elevations. In recent years I have worked in Guernsey, Birmingham and Sydney for agencies large and small, and successfully driven forward a broad range of projects. I've created brands for start-up businesses, campaigns for international corporations, annual reports and accounts and financial statements for government bodies and international funds, as well as work for luxury international hotel chains. I've loved many of these projects, but highlights for me have included developing a long standing relationship with a local retailer that I began working with in the KWL days, and then continued throughout my time at Offshore, and work for a local brewer where we launched four new ales to market, which was very exciting and satisfying to be a part of. For me it's not about the size of the project, or the kudos of the account...it's about how good the finished job looks. And how well it works. I love new challenges (especially ones involving cake) so get in touch if you think there's something we can work on together.
