Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening disease that emerges in childhood or adolescence; and while treatment is available, patients are often misdiagnosed or cases are missed. For a planned program in Ethiopia, Nigeria and Ghana, we have developed a two-step algorithm (attached) to help health workers decide when sick children should have their blood glucose tested (Step 1) and what actions to take depending on the results of initial blood glucose testing (Step 2). This algorithm will be printed and distributed to primary care health facilities in the 3 countries, where it will be a reference document for nurses and other health workers.

The design should meet the following criteria:
1. Able to be printed on A4 paper (portrait or landscape is ok)
2. Provided in an editable format (PPT, word, publisher) so that countries can make adjustments and include translations as needed
