T-Shirt-Design Kurzbeschreibung
We need a new uniform top for our orienteering club: North Texas Orienteering Association. What's orienteering? It's a cross-country navigation sport using map and compass. (Check out www.orienteeringusa.org and our website: www.ntoa.com.) Adventure races often have an orienteering component. But many of us just like to do the orienteering section. We love running (or walking) in forests and other wild terrain, using our brains (no GPS!) to find our way around.
Orienteering is both a competitive and recreational sport. Clubs tend to have a uniform to identify team members at competitions. NTOA is overdue for a uniform upgrade. Our current top is instantly recognizable as Texan, but it doesn't actually say North Texas Orienteering. We had it printed on pricey, old-style, pajama-like Norwegian shirts that our local terrain has largely shredded, and we couldn't afford the name to be printed.
Now we're interested in a new, modern design, to be printed on shirts sourced in North America.
Attached are two files: a photo showing our current uniform top, and one containing a number of other clubs' shirts, as examples.
Aktualisierungen
Just two more days to submit designs! The decision will be made this Saturday, July 9, at our North Texas Orienteering Association summer meeting.

An update on the selection process: At our recent meeting, the association narrowed a number of great designs down to just six finalists. The membership is now voting on those finalists, with voting to end this Friday. I'll let you know after voting closes which design is selected!

Zielmarkt/( -märkte)
We have two groups of customers. 1) Serious orienteering adults who will pay $50-$60 for a sublimation-printed tech material shirt with a slick, sporty design that they can wear to events around the country and world. 2) High school students who attend local events and would buy a club T-shirt (still tech material, but screen printed) for $15 that resembles the uniform. (Some of the serious folks will also want to buy the T-shirts for local meets or to just wear around.)

Muss haben
- This thing has to communicate, "Texas!" Should be in the colors of the Texas flag, in some configuration. Must include the words "North Texas Orienteering." It should be fierce, because we're tough down here! (Go Mavericks!) The shirt needs to have a front and back design. For the T-shirt version, we might use the front only, with club name on the back.
Schön zu haben
- Our club mascot is the armadillo, because they're all over the place in the woods and fields of North Texas. The one on our website was just a friend's freehand drawing, though, so there's no need to use it as is. We're open to a new interpretation of the armadillo! Other nice-to-haves to consider: The Texas flag, a Texas star, an outline of the state of Texas. (Not all of them at once! Just some ideas.)
Sollte nicht haben
- Do not make the majority of the design dark blue - it's sunnier and hotter than hell down here, and dark colors don't work well for us. Red or white base would work better.
