Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

I need a logo for my company that's called Wekatech. The name of the company is based on a native New Zealand bird called a Weka. I would like the logo to include the text 'wekatech' as well as incorporating elements of the weka bird head.

I like the red and the black eyes of the bird, so would like this to be used on the eyes, but haven't decided on the colours for the rest. I'm heading towards the blackish/grayish colours with perhaps another colour that compliments the others, in the right places.

Refer to attached scans - these are rough guides of what I'm looking for. I've sketched a logo using a weka bird's head features to form a 'W' whilst still being able to visualise the bird head features. However I'm open to other creative concepts.
