T-Shirt-Design Kurzbeschreibung

Design brief update:
We are now going to have BEACH TOWELS made... Guys...
I've been getting some very good designs so far but still haven't chosen one that we like best - and hits a 'home run' with us.
Couple things to consider... In the brief, I mentioned that our family is from both Germany and Ireland - but importantly, the German part is Bavaria - which is famous for...? Beer! Right! Not looking for a beer commercial, per se, but a subtle nod to that heritage wouldn't hurt in the right design.
Also - we have decided that we're going to have BEACH TOWELS made, not t-shirts. We may still have baseball caps too but the primary focus for now is the towels. In my mind, this opens up the possibilities for the design a bit since the towels are much larger than a shirt.

I have been tasked with providing a t-shirt (or polo shirt) design for all the members of our family who will be attending our tri-annual reunion this summer.
For background, our family is large (17 adult cousins and their families - about 40 of us will be attending), of German (Bavaria) and Irish (County Sligo) descent. I would like a design that incorporates a sense of both these places with a fun yet "classy" touch that will encourage us to wear the shirts after the reunion has come and gone... The design should lend itself to embroidery as well as printing please (to give us a choice).
