Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

I am looking for a logo with an icon for a company that will provide QA (Quality assurance and software testing) solutions. The company name is 'QA Centric', and is named after the concept of a QA Centre of Excellence (CoE). A CoE is loosely defined as a team of people that promote collaboration and using best practices around a specific focus area to drive business results - in this case, including a full-cycle commitment to QA and testing.

There are two principals that must agree on a design, and who will be providing feedback (through me).

Guidance:
We want something clean, professional and conservative. Our industry expertise is quality control and assurance, so the cleaner, the better. Our clients are exclusively mid-to large enterprise environments with large-scale IT projects underway.

Fonts:
No preference, although professional, clean and sans-serif fonts are generally preferable.

Colours:
A combination of blue and orange or blue and yellow seem to be front-running.

Icon:
Clean, and vector-based for scalability and print.
No ideas, but something that ties in the concepts of a CoE would be ideal. We want something that can stand on it's own as an image, or with the accompanying text (QA Centric).
