Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

THE BRAND: BattleBards.com creates and sells AUDIO for tabletop gamers who play games like Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, etc. The audio includes music, sound effects, professional voice overs, soundscapes, monster sounds, fantasy languages, etc. This is premium quality audio created by Hollywood professionals and is brought to gamers along with software tools to integrate them into their games.

MEANING BEHIND THE NAME BATTLEBARDS: (1) We use the term “Bards” because this class of character in fantasy worlds is musically gifted, charismatic, and carries magical powers to sway the tide of battle. They may appear weak or useless to some, but test them and you’ll quickly find they are equipped to outsmart and overcome any challenge laid in front of them, whether it be a game of wit or a battle to the death. Have a look at some imagery for Bards if you’re not quite sure what they might look like (https://www.google.co.in/search?q=bard&tbm=isch) (2) We use the term “Battle” to be a play off of the “Battle of the Bands”. Artistic and passionate for their craft, they are always ready to compete with one another to prove who is best.

THE FEEL OF THE LOGO: The Prestige of Rolex meets Hardcore Tabletop Role Playing Games through Premium Audio. This is the essence of what you are striving to create. This isn’t a kid show, and it is NOT free stock audio you find randomly on the internet. Our audio library is built for those who invest heavily in their games and the logo should reflect this fact. The real challenge will be to balance the premium feel without appearing obnoxious to gamers.

LOGO REQUIREMENTS:
(1) The logo should read “BattleBards”

(2) There should be a Motif integrated into the logo. The motif should also be able to be used on its own to represent the brand

(3) Logo should be BOLD and in your face

(4) Logo should be resizable so please produce either in vector or in high resolution

(5) Logo will be used on websites, on business cards, and paper print outs. (a) Please ensure you are working in RGB mode with color proofing on (Photoshop/Illustrator) or something similar so that when it comes time to print there are no unforeseen surprises. (b) Ensure the font is not too small so we don’t lose detail when printing. (c) Resolution should be 300ppi

(6) Logo should be catered to gamers, yet maintain a premium, timeless feel. No cartoons here. This is NOT Clash of Clans or any other modern fantasy game app on mobile. It should feel like it belongs to the worlds of Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Warcraft, etc.

Anforderungen

• (1) Bold and in-your face – This is a logo built for Gamers so it can’t be subtle. It has to have attitude and stand out when compared to other gaming/fantasy logos.
• (2) Luxury Feel –Think expensive watch brands, car brands. When you see it, it should have a sense of prestige and premium quality to it. Be wary of it feeling obnoxious though. A couple of examples that work well within the gaming scene are Rift (https://www.riftgame.com/wp-content/themes/riftgame_2013/library/images/RIFT-og.jpg) and Diablo 3 (http://www.technologytell.com/gaming/files/2013/02/diablo-3-logo.jpg)
• (3) We are audio for gamers – There should be clues within the logo that we are audio focused. Look at our current temporary logo (https://melsmifgames.files.wordpress.com/2015/05/cover.jpg) and you’ll see a poor attempt at trying to turn the “D” into a play button as an example. We don’t want this symbol to overpower your logo design but hints should be there.
• (4) Versatile enough to Change Style & Color Palette – Similar to the Blizzard Entertainment Logo (https://www.google.co.in/search?q=blizzard+logo&tbm=isch) where they change up the use of color, gradients, and even go between a 2d/3d look, the BattleBards logo will need to be created similarly. We plan to theme the logo based on the type of audio we are creating. One month it may be Fantasy and another month it might be Sci-Fi. The logo should be versatile enough to allow for these palette and style changes.
• (5) Motif – We want to have a way to iconify BattleBards by including some kind of Motif that stands on its own and represents the brand. There are many ways to do this but here are a couple of ideas:
• (A) Some kind of a musical instrument with a war-like quality, like the Axe guitar in the picture shown here (http://www.heroesofthestormbuildguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/etc.jpg)
• (B) Another idea could be an actual Bard character who may look a bit frail by his demeanor and the lute he’s playing but in contrast has these massive battle instruments twice his size sitting on his back.
• (C) There are other ideas which you will likely have too which may work very well and we’d like to it.
• Keep in mind that the motif should be able to be sitting next to or within the “BattleBards” logo, integrated. But it should also be able to be used on its own. One example that we feel has done well is the integration of the Dragon for Guild Wars 2 (http://amd-icbm.com/icbm/media/gallery/logos/guild-wars-2-logo.png). It doubles as both a Dragon and the number 2. It is powerful enough to be used on its own and at the same time works in conjunction with the logo. To be clear we are NOT suggesting an art style through this example. Your motif could be abstract, or it could be detailed.
• We would also like to design the Motif to have a 1:1 length:width ratio so it can be used for other purposes like as a software Icon, as a Thumbnail, on a business card, as an avatar on social media & in forums, etc. And since it will be used on its own we might consider combining it with the acronym of BattleBards --> “BB” or find a way for “BB” to be integrated within the Motif itself. This Diablo 3 Icon is an interesting example (http://osx.wdfiles.com/local--files/icon:d3/D3.png). Other Examples to pull from of those premium brands who use Letter Acronyms to style their logo include Gucci, Giorgio Armani, and Chanel.

• (1) Please keep this Logo from feeling like a video game logo. Though we presented to you some examples from games we should not be confused with one. As an analogy, compare Forza Motorsport/Gran Turismo racing video game logos to the actual Car Manufacturers like Porsche. We want to be the Porsche.
• (2) No Cartoon Feel. We are NOT Clash or Clans. Think more along the lines of Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Warcraft, Diable, Rift, etc.
