I'm looking for a high-quality, stylish, and modern logo with which to start an independent media and P.R. consulting practice for issues related to social good.
My name, Sahil, means "The Shoreline" in Urdu/Arabic/Farsi, etc, and I was hoping for great logo that I could potentially use on business cards, stationary, a future website, presentations, etc.
The name is simply "Shoreline PR" or "Shoreline".
Words that I associate with my business are: precise, creative, thoughtful, cutting edge, incisive, warm, and progress.
My work has always been related to social change, civil rights, and non-profit related fields -- police reform, gender equality, LGBTQ rights, religious discrimination, environmental rights, food rights, etc -- if that's any motivation. Clients will mostly be small plaintiff-side law firms focusing on employment, civil rights, etc, and NGOs, so although I want "modern" I also don't want to scare away the old-school folks w/ anything too ostentatious. I'm also hoping to work with start-up commercial companies with missions of social good.
Though I'm low-budget now, once I start to build my client base, I hope to have lots more work related to designing a proper website, working with clients who have graphic design needs, etc for whomever is best able to help now!
The logo must be original, stylish (but simple), professional, scalable and easily reproducible (vector graphics), and work in grey-scale when necessary. I know these are standard, but I'm new to this process and this site, and I think it's better to be clear up front than regret later!

Muss haben
- Creativity. Originality (no stock graphics). My suggestions are a starting point, but I'm not a designer; I need a designer with vision to make a lasting, memorable, sharp, fun, warm, professional logo!
- Other criteria: convertible to gray-scale, scalable, reproducible, (vector graphics), crisp, modern. Vibrant colors. Clean Lines. Distinguishable, discrete shapes.
- Translatable for use in a variety of mediums, including business cards, website, stationary, presentations, etc.
- EDIT: Simple. Memorable. Not "cute" -- Serious, Sharp, but warm as well. Maybe try something with "S" and "L".
- Other things to keep in mind: Writing/Ghostwriting is a major part of this work. Media Strategy consulting is also a big component. Image and presentation are paramount. I place clients into national, and international media outlets, I work with them on how to "sell" their cause. I help them write effective advocacy pieces.
- "Shoreline" is not passive. It's a safe haven and a launching point.
- Note: while the work is the antithesis of "BP", I like how their logo is colorful but serious, has a clear color gradient separated by clean lines.
Schön zu haben
- One idea that I was thinking about is an S shaped shoreline, and where the water washes against sand and then recedes (or along the white crest of the water) would form a clear "S" with dry, yellow/orange/golden sand on one side of the S, and clear blue on the other side. That's just an idea and if you designers think it's not practical or doesn't work, I'm open to others -- the S just has resonance with my name and my company's name.
- Note the "designs" I uploaded are just me brainstorming; I am not particularly fond of either, because neither looks "crisp" or "modern" but they might be starting points. I like the second one a little better, because it makes me think of shoreline not being "local" but a global shoreline of a massive continent. Touches on Earth/environmental issues, unity, human rights. What color do ocean and land make when they intersect from the stratosphere? Do we see a beach? A white crest? Neither? Thanks for humoring me, designers.
- Please use these ideas only as a starting point. I value creativity!
Sollte nicht haben
- Outdated looks/ fonts. I'm looking for something that is not so modern that it has a quick expiration date, but modern enough that it lasts for several years without feeling dated. No fancy shadows/shading. I like complimentary colors separated by clean lines/shapes.
