Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

We need a logo for our site which has been running in stealth mode for a while but is suddenly becoming popular due to word of mouth.

The site is at PopSifter.com and, as the name suggests, the engine behind the site applies advanced algorithms to sift through all the popular content on the net each hour to extract the ones going viral at that moment.

We want to build a full brand image and the logo is the first step. We are open to any design but we want it to somehow reflect that out of a vast amount of bad, boring or inappropriate content we extract the small number of gems which saves the user having to trawl through it all. We are open to colour variations but the design must work in monochrome and have a version that is very small for a favicon.

Additional info: I have had a thought of a diamond trapped in a mesh or sieve. This is my only idea and I would be interested to see people's interpretation of this but also, as you are a creative bunch, I am also interested in ideas that are totally different from this.
