Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

We need a logo for a new ultra distance triathlon called THE BEAST 666km. This is a multiple day event involving swimming, cycling running.
The logo will be used for online marketing, print media and merchandising + finishers belt buckles.
There are two images attached - both relate to a different event in the US but this is the style/feel we are looking for. On their example the event occurs around Big Bear thus they have a bear paw shown - in the required example we need something in that style but they do not have bears in Australia :-) Therefore a more generic 'beast' paw print maybe? I have attached a version of a Dingo paw print but we would need to make it more 'beast like' [although we like the idea of it have some link to a Dingo paw print, however tenuous].

As you can see from the belt buckle [finisher medal] - the logo will be adapted to include 'solo finisher' or 'team finisher'.

The final design should reflect a raw, tough, beat like feel. This event is huge and will push the participants to their limits [and beyond].
