Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

So I'm a consulting research and development engineer working in the field of sustainable energy and electric vehicles. I've assembled a loose network of researchers and engineers together that are interested in helping to provide practical technological solutions to meet the world's growing demand for energy in a sustainable and ecologically friendly way. It is our goal to ultimately democratize energy production, putting the means of production in the hands of the consumers and communities that rely on them.
We are currently in the process of applying for grants and seeking out other funding streams. Unfortunately as we assemble the various powerpoint slides and shuffle pages upon pages of grant applications one thing is conspicuously missing. A LOGO!
So we are calling this project "FIL R&D" which is Functional Integration Laboratories, Research and Development. It will be based out of Chicago, where the noise of the bustling cityscape will mask the sounds of explosions and maniacal mad scientist laughter emanating from our secure underground facility. Of course we don't want to alarm the public and arouse suspicion from authorities so the logo should be something clean and precise, we are a focused group interested in real results and real world impacts and the logo should communicate that. Our initial project IS focused on energy production but I do NOT want to see any lightning bolts please. Instead, as the name indicates, we are more broadly focused on how to integrate various functional elements in a complex system for maximum efficiency and minimum ecological impact, that's what I would like to communicate. (except maybe as would be done by Lex Luthor)
