Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

We need a new logo for Diarna, “Our Homes” in Judeo-Arabic,”
a project that explores the unfolding of Jewish history through the prism of physical location by digitizing individual sites (schools, cemeteries, synagogues, shrines) and memories.

The logo will be featured on the Diarna Project's Geo-Museum of Middle Eastern Jewish Life website (see separate design contest for website template: http://jobs.designcrowd.com/job.aspx?id=16238)

Diarna pioneers the use of digital mapping and other technologies to weave and synthesize satellite imagery (complete with terrain, zoomable perspectives, tiltable views, and 360-degree rotation), immersive panoramas, three-dimensional architectural models, archival and contemporary photography, and oral history recordings. In this way and no other, the project ensures untrammeled access to often endangered Jewish historic and cultural sites, allowing anyone with an Internet connection to travel across the region as if on eagles’ wings, unaffected by political and interreligious strife below. Previously unknown or difficult to visit sites are now “visitable” through Diarna.

Driven by a team with diverse backgrounds and outlooks—including young Muslims eager to discover shared history—Diarna:

• Uncovers all manner of historic sites, famous and obscure, throughout the region;
• Preserves sites and memories via maps and multimedia; and
• Perpetuates what would otherwise be lost or forgotten by transforming research materials into exhibitions, educational applications, and a database-driven cultural atlas.

Designs must be optimized for Internet and print publication.
