We seek a new website for D’fina (JewishMorocco.org), an exhibit of The Diarna Project’s Geo-Museum of Middle Eastern Jewish Life, dedicated to uncovering the “buried” or “covered” Jewish treasures of Morocco.

Spanning the entire country, from metropolitan centers to remote villages, D’fina proffers a virtual passport to visitors wishing to explore mountain-top shrines of Jewish “saints” that continue to be voluntarily protected by Muslim caretakers, scorpion-guarded genizot (burial grounds for holy texts and objects), anthropomorphic tombstones in seaside cemeteries, synagogues on the edge of the Sahara Desert, and ancient urban quarters with hidden reminders of their one-time residents.

This exhibit marks the first public showing of documentation on the majority of these sites, including several Vichy regime desert labor and “discipline” camps where hundreds of Jews and non-Jewish political prisoners toiled, suffered torture, and died during the Holocaust.

D’fina is certainly the first to feature:
* Extensive documentation on Jewish sites in major cities and remote settings alike;
* Exclusive immersive panoramas, three-dimensional reconstructions, high-definition videos, site summaries, cultural atlas, archival and contemporary photos; and
* Interactive virtual tours of sites led by Morocco’s only Jewish guide.

D'fina's website design needs to be clean and informational and exciting as well as showcase the best of our collection. The winning design should include an intuitive interface and taxonomy capable of handling hundreds of site entries.

The template should also have a distinctive homepage, themed pages (curator's introduction, staff, screening rooms to view multimedia content, virtual tours, behind-the-scenes, contribute), and no blog elements (e.g., comment section). Admin friendliness is a plus.

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: While many of the designs submitted thus far are interesting, we would like to see additional submissions. An extension of 10 days has been set. This should be the final extension, and we hope a worthy design emerges to justify guarantying the contest as soon as possible. This website's design should be clean and compelling.
