Our company is a small corporate advisory and business consultancy firm. We crunch numbers, manage transactions, and help people with business problems. We don't advertise or have any form of publically promoted profile. All of our current business is based on our reputation.
We interact with our clients on an irregular basis, but when we do it is typically under very intense, high value and high stakes scenarios. And they rely on us to complete a professional job, under tight timeframes, and to a high standard of accuracy.
The keywords describing what we do are: complexity, analysis, precision, dissemination, communication, strategy.
We try to balance the intensity of what we do by being 'real people'. Our office is located outside the CBD, near a good surf beach and other outdoor pursuits. This approach is slightly unconventional, but we have still grown our business in a field which is otherwise populated by very conservative, and much larger firms.
We have reached a level of size and profile that requires a more formal corporate identity, including website, business cards, stationery, etc. This brief is for a logo design, but in the future we will require the additional elements. The final logo design will need to be suitable for use in all mediums (print, projection, web, social media, etc).
My personal tastes tend towards black, white and greyscale colours, but this shouldn't be a restriction on submissions.
Surfing is a big influence on my life, and to incorporate an element of that into the logo would be great. But it would have to be incredibly abstract or subtle so as not to be obvious to 3rd parties - we're a professional services firm who surf in their spare time, not a surf label! I'm not sure this is actually possible, so please don't treat it as a requirement.

Hi, and thanks to everyone who has submitted designs so far. Apologies not to provide feedback individually, but there have been too many submissions to manage this... Having reviewed everything so far I'd like to provide the following feedback for any future submissions:
1. The best designs so far have all been pictorial / combination logos, so please don't provide any more lettermark logos. The winning logo will have a combination of an icon/picture and our company name.
2. Please don't provide any submissions that only have our acronym "WCCL". All of the best submissions to date have included the text "WCCL" and "West Coast Capital Ltd", or just "West Coast Capital Ltd".
3. We are craving some icons/pictures/logos that represent "complexity, analysis, precision, dissemination, communication, strategy.". Reflecting more on these themes, just about every job we do involves taking something large and complex (e.g. a legal or financial construct, or lots of numerical data) and either putting it into a logical order, simplifying it, or making it uniform so it can be understood.
