We need a logo for the Ocean View community in Norfolk, Virginia. The overall positioning of Ocean View is:

Ocean View is Norfolk’s unique 7.3-mile coastal community on the Chesapeake Bay, where old meets new and diversity thrives in people, places and attitudes.

The tagline is: Old Salt. New Vibe.

Anforderungen

• Mandatory Considerations:
• The OV logo must be visually appealing – immediately capture your attention!
• The OV logo must bring to life the essence of what OV is all about – OV’s overall brand positioning (the OV positioning, tag line and personality above).
• The OV logo must have community-wide, universal appeal. The logo must be appropriate and appealing for everyone to want to use it (residents of a high-end development, visitors fishing off the OV pier, local real estate agents, builders and developers, patrons at an old, local watering hole, etc.)
• The OV logo must be tasteful, not risqué. OV is an important neighborhood in a major U.S. city.
• The OV logo must be consistent with the City of Norfolk’s overall brand positioning - America’s most diverse and authentic urban waterfront community.
• OV logo must easily work across many “use applications” – must be easy to apply to hats, tee shirts, letterhead, signs, etc. and work well with OV’s new rallying cry “Old Salt. New Vibe.”
• OV logo must be different from other Hampton Roads’ place-oriented logos.
• OV logo must include the words “Ocean View, Norfolk, VA” in some applications like a bumper sticker.

Schön zu haben

• Logo should use the City of Norfolk’s primary two colors – blue and green. Specifically, see PDF and use colors from Norfolk logo that features green mermaid.
• A strong logo option should include Norfolk’s mascot – a mermaid. There is no set design guidelines for this mermaid, just be tasteful, and not sexual or provocative in any way.

Sollte nicht haben

• Using the mermaid is not a requirement. Any mermaid should not be an exact copy of the official mermaid for the city of Norfolk. The Ocean View mermaid should be different. See attached file for examples. Search online for Norfolk Mermaid to see other examples.
