Moochie b's - header logo needed
Add your question or comments below
Hello, just wondering when you will make your decision. It''s almost 2 months.
A letter to Moochie B''s,
This is outrageous. With all due respect to the designer of the logo that was chosen, which is in its own right well designed - no questions asked - I have to contest the decision on the grounds that this logo does not in ANY way come close to the logo requirements that was explicitly enumerated in the project. Let me point out the facts and quote the stipulations, if I may:
1. There is no "light blue sky with 3d clouds" in this logo, regardless of whether or not it looked like the "ad for the film ''UP'' by pixar films"
2. Granted, there is leniency with the use of the desired font - which, should be stressed was FREE and easily downloadable - the word "moochie b''s" is not IN a cloud, and nothing in the design is "3d"
3. The letters does not "start smaller and get bigger as it reaches the o''s and the c in moochies then tapering off again", therefore it does not have the "effect of coming toward the viewer", nor do they resemble a "bubblegum being blown in a bubble"
4. The logo does not have "bubble gum type colours". This style used in the logo picked is Gel, and the colors are far from being "pinky/ lilacy", unless it is considered that fuschia or the shades of red and purple, which where used are such
5. It was specifically stated that "the i in moochies to be an ice cream", but neither the I nor the dot on it was represented as an ice cream
The only thing that was followed was the requirements for the word "...baby!", but I wouldn''t say the rest are "touches" the designer thought would "look good" but rather a complete overhaul far from being "touches".
As clearly seen, what was enumerated in detail is not what was accomplished. These facts mentioned above should not have been put under the MUST HAVE list if the company was to decide later on that that is not what they wanted, simply because somebody else had a better idea than theirs. There is a reason why it''s called a "Must Have", and if there''s none, there SHOULD BE.
Granted, these can be guidelines, ideas, or suggestions, but nevertheless it was made very clearly and specifically what was required from the pool of designers including myself who, after reading those criteria have meticulously abide by them to create the logo the company wanted. In the real world, a designer who did not complied with what the client specifically mentioned would have been fired.
I am standing up for myself, and for all the other designers in this community who subject themselves to the 1/25 chance at best (this one had 46 submissions!) that their hard work will be rewarded by a company that is requesting design work be produced and submitted just for their mere speculation. Clients should not get designers to define their project specs for them, more so insult the community by picking something that they considered better than what they asked for. This is unethical and simply put, abusive. It is true not all designers in this community are equal in skill and talent, but credit must be given, to where it is due.
A copy of this letter will be sent to Alec Lynch, Managing Director of DesignCrowd, and will be posted to the winning logo as a comment. People involved have every right to know.
Sincerely,
Julius Reque
