Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

We are looking for a new logo design for our church located in Mililani, Hawaii. We are a Southern Baptist Church - their logo is a globe over a Bible with a cross in the center (seen on sbc.net). It embodies a lot of what our own church's mission is all about. Some of their schools have variations of this logo (swbts.edu and ggbts.edu). We like those logos, especially the more modern takes of it seen in the schools, but ours needs to be different but still embody the emphasis and mission of sharing Christ throughout the world and being rooted in Scripture. We definitely enjoy our Hawaiian culture and if somehow the string of Hawaiian islands was shown in the globe, that would be great, but we realize that may not even be possible given the relative size of the islands - perhaps some other aspect of Hawaii could be shown - but this should be avoided if it makes the logo too "busy" or takes away from its simple message. This design would then be coupled to our church name, Mililani Baptist Church - probably with "Mililani" in larger font and then "Baptist Church" in smaller font under "Mililani" but this could be changed as well onto one line or with just our initials (MBC) next to it. The final design shouldn't be gaudy, but simple, distinct, and communicating our church's mission.

We have a wide age demographic spanning many cultures. Thus the need for just a simple design that can appeal to many different groups. We are trying to make a better effort to reach out to more young families - so a design that appeals to parents in their 30s/young 40s - but one that would still be acceptable to those in their 60s and up.

• Crosses come in many styles (Methodists have a flame on the left, Presbyterian with two flames and a dove, liturgical ones with rounded circles at the ends). Avoid cross designs that mirror other denominations. A simple cross is fine and it's ok to morph it slightly to be incorporated within the image of the globe.
