Hi everyone thanks for all your designs so far. One key point for us is that I would like a 'logo' out of this project that stands alone once you pull all the text off of it so that I can use it for merchandise. So in doing your designs think about if you pulled all the text off (or at least most of it) you should see something left that strikes a cord and is marketable on a golf shirt, hat or a piece of equipment like a water bottle or something I might give to my clients to remember us. Also any fish should resemble a trout or salmon or a native/first nation/maori version of that. Thanks and good luck!
Hi everyone thanks again for all your hard work and creativity! The designs are coming along well I really like many of them. I want to give you a bit more general feedback that you can all work with. My business is going to be west coast Canada for half the year and in New Zealand the other half. Both of these areas have some unique native art styles. If you have a look at Google and put in 'West Coast Native Art Salmon'' and then another search with 'Maori Fish Hook' then click on the images for these two searches (separate searches obviously) you may find some inspiration for your designs using an integration of these two concepts or one or the other separate. Your design doesn't necessarily need to have a fish in it (even though I think I may have said it does initially) it may just be a fish hook. But it needs to be unique and special. I know I'm sort of cornering your creativity a bit and I don't want you to use the results you find on google obviously, but just want you to understand where my head is at with respect to the 'native' bits of the description in the project. I want something truly unique. There are many designs that someone else already has if you're using a generic fish picture. Mine needs to be truly unique and special and integrate the elements of the graphic and the text. I am after simple, unique and elegant. Thanks again keep going you guys are all awesome!
Hi everyone. Just to let you know I've started to eliminate some designs just to keep the project manageable for myself. I still appreciate everyone trying who was eliminated so far. Please read all the public messages to keep on track and remember simple, unique, elegant and professional. Anything that can combine a West Coast Canada feel with something uniquely New Zealand/Maori is going to lead the way. Also remember that initially this is going to be fly fishing then on to salmon fishing so if there's a way to get the fly in there somehow that could help your design. Thanks again great work so far!
Hi designers just to let you know I've updated the briefing and added a couple of pictures there for you guys. One is of a West Coast native salmon and another is a Maori fish hook. I love the salmon because of the 'action' in it, it is turning and climbing and I love the native motif of it and the meaning of it with the human inside it. It says a LOT that picture. I love the elegance of the Maori fish hook and the tradition and importance of it in Maori culture. These are just things to let you all know what I like and what stirs excitement in me. Your design should make every attempt to connect West Coast Canada and New Zealand and to cover both fly fishing for trout and also fishing for salmon on the West Coast of Canada. This is a huge 'ask' but I've already seen that many of you are up to it! Thanks for all your hard work so far you are doing amazing and we are thrilled with the results so far!
