Umbrella of Hope's CATS OF HAZZARD kitten caricatures/logo
Add your question or comments below
Hi,
This is a project I genuinely want to work on, and will be submitting my designs soon.
Just to be clear, what you want is caricatures of each of the 5 cats that can be used as a logo in whole, but can also be used individually for each cat, yes?
Please don't close the project before time.
Thank you.
We want a logo encompassing all 5 of the cats but if possible we would also like those 5 cats available on their own individually.
We do not plan on closing it early...we don't even know how to do that!
Brooke
I think you pretty much suck for asking me not to close the project early and then bowing out because you are "too busy"... If there is a way for me to rate you so that other people can see how you operate, I will be sure to do so.
Please understand that I already spent a ton of time on your project, about 10 hours if not more. 5 caricatures at this price point (that too, in vector so that it could be used as a logo) was already a little too much to do, but I only did it because I absolutely loved the whole idea. As a designer, I hate to quit and stop providing revisions, but there comes a time when you need to stop and move on to quicker projects that guarantee payment.
Saying that I "suck" because I backed out of a project that I already invested so much time in, that I wasn't guaranteed any money for, is extremely unprofessional on your end.
If anything, the only loss here was mine, since I put in so much effort for absolutely nothing. I dont see just how you took offence.
Unfortunately there's no way for you to rate me unless I "sucked" at a project I got paid for.
Greetings Brooke!
I really love the meaning of this project and I'm definitely gonna submit my proposal.
I still can't understand how "people" can commit such cruelty. I myself found 5 tiny puppies on the side of a trash container, inside a pizza box... Luckily they looked healthy and I found some of them a home and some of them a pet shop. I don't want to imagine how many babies are left with no help every day.... :(
I hope the orange kittens are alright :,(
About what colleague Prints- Super said about not closing the contest before deadline... please don't take it as an offense, I'm sure she's working hard to do her best :)
What she was talking about, is that many contest holders sometimes choose a winner before deadline, when many designers are still hardly working thinking they have the chance to show their proposals. Even though the clients like a winning design, we designers feel it wouldn't a waste of time knowing that at least we had the chance of showing our work...that at least the client paid attention to others who've worked for it. So that is why we sometimes ask politely to Contest holders not to close the contest before deadline. It's not something that only Prints-Super would ask, that petition is very common here in DesignCrowd :) So please don't get mad at us. Hope I was clear and sorry for my bad English.
Best regards!
Josy.
From the way I understood the process, I was to narrow down my choices and provide feedback. As soon as I provided feedback, you dropped out. I do not believe that asking you to remove the hats that you put on the cats (not what I asked for), to use less colors (should have been a simple change) and to make the legs look more like what the cats actually look like (which was covered in the initial brief) was pretty reasonable. You had not done any previous revisions as I had not asked for any. If you are not willing to provide revisions on your work then you have incredibly unrealistic expectations. I would think it would be incredibly lucky on any designer's part to expect the client would be 100% happy with the first draft. In general, we have been very unhappy with this whole experience with DesignCrowd so far. 95% of the designs we received were obviously done with zero attention given to what we asked for and we are a week past the close of the contest and have no winning design. Your design was the closest to what we had asked for and as soon as we ask for a revision, you drop out. This entire process has been incredibly frustrating. We are in a holding pattern with marketing our special needs kittens because we thought it would be a fun bonus for them to have a logo. The individual caricatures were not what we paid for and was simply a hope that someone would be kind enough to provide them after the logo we did pay for was chosen and finished.
Hi Josy,
Thank you for your kind words. While we have taken in many cases of cruelty, the Cats of Hazzard were all born with birth defects and no one has been cruel to them (except maybe nature) but they have no idea they are different and they are all loving and sweet and have "normal" kitten brains.
Your English is better than mine and I am a native speaker ;)
Hey,
I absolutely understand the need of revisions, and revisions are never an issue. You may ask for as many revisions as you want and stop only once you are satisfied with the design. The final design is very often completely different than the original submission.
I did not stop working on the project because I had a problem with revising the design, only because it was taking me too long. I wasn't aware that you didn't have much expectations from other designers who submitted their designs. I thought I was just another option and my leaving wouldn't make much of a difference.
I'm sorry for the fact that your DesignCrowd experience hasn't been very pleasant, but I think its because only a few people here are designers as well as illustrators. Your project required illustration skills more than designing skills, and I assume that's why you might have been disappointed with the submissions. Illustrations are typically done at an amount a notch higher than this, and this might be why not many illustrators were lured into the project.
Hi Brooke! HRU?
Just wanted to know if you'd like me to vectorize the kittens or fix them while the Contest is in 'Pending selection'. Even though the time of submitting has finished, designers that already presented a propsal are able keep submitting revisions ;).
Regards,
Josy.
