Poster-Design Kurzbeschreibung
We need a new poster design the poster for our next movie "INTENSIVE CARE". We are looking for a compelling poster to take our movie to American Film Market in November. We'll be using this image in our marketing materials and pitch deck to help sell foreign territories and get our production budget.
This is a quick, 5 day contest, so get your design in! Only ONE winner will be awarded. Please read entire brief carefully :)
Heres what the story is about:
Intensive Care is a drama along the lines of Harold and Maude and a female About Schmidt. It follows the developing relationship between an older, fragile southern woman and the abused boy she kidnaps and takes on the road - All while the police and their families try to find them.
Major elements in the film:
- Set in the modern day south. Georgia (possible Savannah), North Carolina etc..
- The lead's husband is in a coma and currently on life support.
- The lead character becomes delusional, starts thinking that the boy is her husband reincarnated, and that they can relive their first relationship moments on the road.
- The boy and the lady end up on an coast beach.
Characters:
- A quirky, older southern woman, aged between 55-60
- The womans daughter, who is worried about her mom, and is also forced to make the decision to turn off the life support machine alone, after her mother disappears.
- The boy, aged 8-11 - precocious, self aware but in a neglected household
- The boy's mother: a drunk absentee parent who is abusive to him.
NOTE: There are no actors cast yet, so any people's faces will need to be hidden or they need to be viewed from he back..
This is a psychological drama and a prestige feature film meant to be cast with A-List actors and in the major film festivals. The tone and imagery need to be simple but very high concept. This is not a cheesy TV Movie made for Lifetime or Hallmark. But it is a little quirky, exploring the psychological make up of a woman starting to lose her senses. Maybe even moving into dementia or Alzheimer's.
SIZE: 8.5x11 at 300dpi max - It will have to be lossless scaled for use in a Pitch Deck (powerpoint type slideshow) that may be seen on a responsive website, ipad or other tablet and smartphone. We will also scale the image down for posting on Social media sites, Crowdfunding sites and IMDB.
See below for some current concept storyboards for more ideas. Yet the style of the storyboards aren't right for key art.
Drama is such a wide genre, here's also a couple of poster samples in case you're not familiar with the format: http://www.moviepostershop.com/genre/drama/
Not all the poster samples at that website are right for the project.
Attached is a low-res mock up image - only for more ideas about the project.
Be sure to ask any questions if you don't understand the story!

There may also something neat about the image of a heart rate monitor graphic or flatline image that could be used as a divider or focus of the poster..Not totally necessary but It needs to totally make sense with the overall composition.
Please add leave room somewhere for small "Billing Block" for movie credits and/ or "Coming Soon" or other text layers we may put on the poster as needed.
