Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

"Elgem Tax" is a tax services business focusing on tax compliance, consulting and planning for US individuals and businesses. I have been in business since 2006 and am expanding my services via marketing. I would like to refresh a logo that my grandfather used in his business over 30 years ago (see 1st attachment file for his logo which I have added the word "tax" to). I would like to keep the blue and yellow colors and refresh it to be more in line with today's standards. I like the simplicity of his logo from the early 1980s but don't want it to be too old. I want to keep it simple to communicate to customers that I can simplify the US tax code for them. I want to use the logo on my website, business cards, apparel, etc. ****I received a mug this week that had a neat logo and I didn't know if there was a way to include aspects of this as well (See attached for logo in 2nd attachment) I like the "EST.MMVIII" on the logo and like its simplicity.
