Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

I need a logo design to serve as the basis for rebranding a small used bookstore I'm buying this month plus launching on online presence this spring. It's been in business for 15 years in the same location in the historic district of a small city in Florida (tropical climate, eastern seaboard of Florida).

It has no brand to speak of today other than a favorite spot for intellectuals and avid readers to come find something among the 40,000 plus titles of used and rare books.

I'm re-naming it New Haven Books as a reference to the historic main street it's located on - plus I was able to grab the domain and the twitter handle as such. I want to rebrand and launch social media, online book sales asap (we'll be putting about 250K titles into inventory on line).

This is a very low-key community, the town is around 50K people. I hope to grow the brick and mortar store to include a local artists showcase, hold readings and signings and such.

I have an image in mind for a logo, a girl sitting under a palm tree in profile reading a book, because it tips to locality and mood. But I'm open to better ideas and I'm not a designer just an appreciator of the importance of brand. Key concepts; used and rare books, eclectic collection, inspirational intellectually, counter-cultural, helpful passionate team, family business. Could be retro, but not South Beach/Miami retro ;) No color palate in mind but as always good to have something that can be used as color or black and white.
