Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

Team Name: San Jose Marlins
Team Colors: Columbia Blue, Black, White, Gray
Team Sport: Baseball

We'd like something baseball classic and vintage; but also still unique and cool (duh). Colors should be columbia blue, black, white, gray. We're looking for a round logo rather than something longer (more of a patch than a name scrawled across). Cartoon animation would be cool (call it something like Marty the Marlin, etc), but not absolutely necessary.

I have this image of a cartoon marlin swinging a baseball mat that's body sort of contorts into an M (ie the tail and nose are two points of the M and the bat could be the third point of the M).

It's also important to note that we're not tough guys. We don't want a big buff Marlin kicking ass. It's just not who we are. Maybe a Marlin smoking a cigar or something is more of our style. We're also not total goofs and we're not in a beer drinking league - so it can't look overly friendly/cartoony. It has to be something in the middle. Strange/cool/lazy over tough or cartoony. I do like the idea of the back fin of the marlin sorta looking like a mohawk. Maybe a punk rock Marlin; a cool guy marlin.

I've attached some logos. Most of them are of Marlins looking tough, which I know i mentioned not necessarily wanting. It's just hard finding a logo that isn't a "tough guy" logo. Maybe it'll be ok if our character looks a little tough as long as we give him a cigar and a mohawk or something to soften him up.

THIS IS NOT A BUSINESS; IT'S A BASEBALL TEAM. I DON'T NEED ANYTHING THAT WOULD LOOK GOOD ON A BUSINESS CARD. LOOKING FOR A DESIGN THAT MAKES SENSE ON A BASEBALL HAT OR UNIFORM.
