Hi all!
I am a fashion designer, studying as a mature student in London and taking steps to create my designer label. I need a logo for my company which represents my style, reflects my target audience, and matches my company name as well as the company ethic. These are as follows:
Name: ALEX GALI
I chose a neutral name making people 'guess' whether it is a male or a female because I am a feminist into equality for both genders. Alex is both a man's and woman's name! However, note that originally Alex Gali comes from my double barrel surname from marriage Alexandrou-Galiatsatou. As you can see I am greek! But I am a greek Londoner and proud of being British. I was born and raised here and am inspired by other Greek-Londoners like Mary Katrantzou (check her out to understand!).
My style: Grecian Gothic Fusion
I chose to fuse together the two parts of my life and personality. I am a traditional greek woman really proud of my traditions and origins (originally from Cyprus). Everything about Greece and Cyprus inspires me from mythology, to ancient greece, history, battles and wars, ancient gods and goddesses, clothing, statues, architecture, art, the sunset and flowers, food... everything! But I am also interested in gothic music, gothic romanticism, gothic photography of churches and graves, gothic art like Anne Stokes and battle-scenes like those of Greek Cypriot artist Chris Achilleos, fantasy movies like Lord of the Rings and fantasy fiction.
In my work I show extremes of CONTRAST - this is the core of my style: monochromatic black and white fused with bold colours, silk fused with leathers, pureness of white satins fused with darkness of black romantic lace, goddess fused with warrior princess.
Think 'dramatic, bold clothing for dynamic professional women not afraid to stand out and be adventurous!'.
Company ethic: Promoting feminine power and using women's voices to promote social change!
My company will not just be a designer womenswear brand which sells cloths and stops there. In reinvesting in the company bulks of money will be used to promote the company as a 'social enterprise' spending on projects which support social change. Starting from my local community and expanding to international support.
I also want to make my brand 'MAKE IT BRITISH' as I feel uk manufacturers need to be supported and I am proud of this. I would also want to support Greece with their economic turmoil and source a lot of materials from there a country which is in my heart too.
Target Audience: Dynamic professional women
These are women who are strong-minded and so tend to feel comfortable in their skin and are not afraid to be bold and dramatic in their work-place. For example the City of London is a sea of black/blue/grey monochrome and I wish to spread colour in the professional environment but in a dramatic way. Usually higher level professional women have the chance to do this rather than entry level women (sadly!), and usually women in power, directors, managers, successful career women, business women, company owners, from lawyers to retail buyers and celebrities (I hope)!
Brand Level: High end independent designer level, price ranging £400 - £800
To help you out with ideas I have thought of the following information:
Brand I am inspired by: Versace - predominantly because the clothes are bold and dramatic for dynamic women and the symbol is GREEK (Roman and Greek throughout history have matched) but also very GOTHIC (with the Medusa head!) and is relatively simple VECTOR which is high end fashion logo.
Symbols I have considered: Well I can't take the Medusa now can I ?? (Versace symbol).
Here is a NEW list of supporting ideas which might help:
1) Ideas related to Goddess Athena
2) Ideas related to Goddess Artemis
3) MUST fuse/incorporate a GOTHIC element to the greek elements (maybe a font or part of the logo)
4) Using the letters 'AG' is a good idea if you can make it work to look both gothic AND greek
Be creative and other than the above ideas, you can come up with your own idea which gives a greek and gothic combination but could be something completely different, new, and nowhere to be seen in Greek or Gothic! Make your own idea! But explain PLEASE what inspired you to do it and what it might mean!
Please do a logo symbol WITH the company name below so I can see if it looks good together.
I am uploading samples of fonts to inspire you but as I said ....
Be CREATIVE!

Muss haben
- Must have a creative logo symbol and creative font. I uploaded ideas for fonts to help by BE CREATIVE and adventurous! I have made a list of symbols which are interesting in my description but... be creative and adventurous!!
- If you use 'female heads' (i.e. for Athena or Artemis ideas) please try to use more abstract as detailed designs are too difficult to replicate for commercial use. (I have uploaded an image to help with 'artemis' but also uploaded Versace simple which is a good vector to replicate commercially)
- As you can see below I want the logo and font to be IN THE MIDDLE for everything because I am a person that believes in BALANCE AND EQUALITY... but I want a little more 'serious sophistication' and a little more 'colour and drama'... and very much want an upmarket logo. This is a designer brand label selling clothes of £400-£800. Think 'diane von furstenberg'!!!
Schön zu haben
- BE CREATIVE! Try to find a unique idea for the logo which represents greek and gothic feel without having to take the symbols I proposed and without it being something that exists in greek mythology... if you can! Creativity is awarded!
- My concept is ALL about CONTRASTS so if you are able to come up with a black and white logo/wordlogo with splashed of colour then you will stand out more than the rest! I have uploaded an idea so have a look and be creative!
Sollte nicht haben
- Plain 'ALEX GALI' without a symbol of some sort!! Please have a logo symbol with it or at least an idea with the letter AG!
