Here's a little something to give a broader idea:

Having a 'mascot' or character as part of the logo is really not necessary unless it can be done tastefully. It doesn't need to be so straightforward.

Basically, anything like the examples attached are great. They portray a retro / superhero look the best and that is what the concept of our brand is. We think the fonts used in the examples are fantastic.
