Are you looking for one Image of Grandpa and the Girls with the hook caught in Grandpa's trousers, as the cover of the book?
Or are you looking for a sequence of 8 Images of what you described? Which would not be for a cover.

If it is one image for the cover then the price is right but if it is 8 images then I agree with the other designers the fee is too little for the amount of work that goes into a professional illustration.

Dear John and Hello all my designers fellas,

I think if any designer want to get the higher prize, then they just simply submit their best draft or one of eight illustration to show your qulity. If the clients like and are interested with your work you can later propose or negotiate the reasonable prize.

No offense to any designers here but please respect the client budget as well. They might want some great designs and willing to negotiate a higher prize but they might have a limited or certain budget. Thank you and good luck.
