Logo Project Requirement

We need a logo design for a new supermarket to be called "Bloomsbury's Supermart".

We intend to be selling day to day houshold supermarket/Grocery items(Such as you find in ASDA or Sainbury's in the UK or Walmart in the US) to consumers.

We would like to see designs that will use options of 3 colors-(Yellow,Toquiseblue and Orange/Red) or any good 2 colors of-(a)Toquiseblue and Orange/Red,(b)Orange and Yellow,(c)Orange and Toquiseblue).

The final design should have a brandmark and the name "Bloomsbury's Supermart".The brand mark can be either symbol, letter or an sign that depicts the name and or the business.

The letters Font type but are readable, legible and very unique possibly customized.

The logo must be able to create a strong long lasting impact on consumers, beat existing ever known designs, be iconic symbol of our business and communicate seriousness/professionalism in supermarket business and great quality services.

Must Haves

1) Must have brandmark together with the name "Bloomsbury's Supermart"(Brand mark can be symbol, abstract, letter or sign e.t.c) and must be meaningful.

2) Must have 3 colors(Yellow,Red/Orange and Toquiseblue) or

3) Could be 2 colors(Toquiseblue and Red or Yellow and Orange or Toquiseblue and Orange).

4) Font type to be readable/legible, unique and possibly customized.

Nice to Have

1) Nive to have the text-"Bloomsbury's Supermart" written in white on solid colours of Toquiseblue,Red/Orange with  or without yellow involved.

2) Brand mark could be a letter "B" or "b" with or without petal incorporated and designed in a creative way to be able to communicate brand personality with or without the name "Bloomsbury's Supermart"

3) Brand mark could be totally a different icon, symbol or object that will standout of the crowd of existing brand marks

Should Not Haves

1) Should not be a copy of what was in existence before or now.So it should be

2) Should not be complex,but simple.

3) Should not have a common font or old types and should be readable,straight word/text

Am looking for a logo that combines a brand mark e.g the "M" in macdonalds and the brand name. The brand name can be either be letter like you used "B" in addition to the brand name "Bloomsbury's Supermart".That is “ B Bloomsbury’s Supermart” together such that if we decides to use the brand mark alone,consumer and the general public will understand the brand being referred to.

The brand mark can  either be a letter or another mark/symbol for Bloomsbury's  that has a positive meaning. It can be as simple as a line. Refer to NIKE brand mark of a swoosh(“a tick”)

Nike has a swoosh("a tick"),Domino has ( " 2 dices with dots on them") put sides by side with the name "Domino". “M” together with the word Macdonalds.These are just examples, wick with all these to come up with new design taking all these facts into considerations.

Am not insisting on using Initials as logo mark for Bloomsbury’s.

Bloomsbury's is one word,therefore there is NO initial for the name.

    • Adaptable- Logo must be adaptable to all form of communication channels/Branding-Media materials, banners, Stationary-envelopes e.t.c Logo must work well on business cheques, vehicle signage, letterheads, packages .brochure, web site, TV adverts, company uniforms e.t.c
    • Brand recognition support-The logo should have in-built design that will help brand/name recognition.
    • Trademarkable-All brand identity materials-Design,Logo,colour,brandmark e.t.c should be such that can be trademarked.
    • Consistency-Logo must appear in a format that ensure consistency wherever it is placed,positioned and used.
    • Compactable Graphic Imagery-It must has graphic imagery that looks appropriate for the the type of business.

    o Must be Wordmark and Letter or Brandmark-That is Logo must be a combination of Wordmark and a letter/Brandmark- Bloomsbubry’s must be a wordmark in a special and unique(uncommon) font type. A wordmark with a Brandmark or a creative abstract lettermark. However,a Brandmark is preferred when compared with a lettermark because of it builds strong brand identity and makes more impact.Lettermark when creatively design could also be a strong brandmark.
    • Note:
    o Lettermark-This is usually symbol derived from letters from the name to form a logo symbol.It is usually a combination of letters from the business name.
    o Brandmark-Must have a symbol that represents the business. It may be abstract or Non-abstract. This must be strong and has powerful visual impact. E.g brandmark for NIKE swoosh which is a tick (√ )and that for MacDonald’s Golden Arches letter “M”.Agency must create a strong and powerful Brandmark for Bloomsbury’s as part of brand identity /personality development.
    o . Brandmark Design:
     Could be abstract or Non-abstract
     Must be a meaningful, explainable and relevant design with potential high impact on consumers/shoppers and general public.
     Must be very creative and show high level of professionalism






    • Wordmark Font /Typestyle Design
    o Bloomsbury’s must preferably come in BOLD,PROGRESSIVE AND CREATIVE typestyle to have tremendous impact on the impression it makes on customers and potential customers.
    o Font type should be UNIQUE(UNCOMMON),READABLE and RECOGNISABLE.
    o Choose a modern typestyle that matches the type of business involved.
    o Customise the presentation of Brand name in the logo.
    • Logo Colour Options.
    o Please in coming up with logo design , consider how the logo will appear in materials-uniforms,banners,Flags ,Base Ball Cap,T-shirt,Short sleeve shirt, coffee mugs and other items and places it might appear on.
    1st Option
    o 3 colours-BLUE, ORANGE AND YELLOW. Preferably dark shade/solid colour of turquoise-blue, orange and Yellow in combination that projects the logo and names strongly.All colours may include white in the designs(since this is not regarded as a additional colour in printing).
    o DEEP should explore options of 2 colour combinations in all options of design to determine the best colour with maximum impact and unique personality.
    2nd Option(Alternative colour scheme)
    o DEEP should also come up with other colour schemes (as alternative) that matches this brand and customers expectations.
    o Colour to be energetic, cool, projecting/attention arresting and likable.
    o DEEP to decide on alternative 2-3 colour combinations providing 1st a 3 colour based designs and 2nd another 3 colour based designs.
    • Logo Shapes and Sizes
    o Standard logo should be Horizontal, but should not lose its impression if scaled up or down into different height/sizes.
    o Should be Bold and big for image to create a lasting impression on people. Please propose sizes to meet this criteria.However,design must be scalable to a small size without losing details of the logo.
    o Shape and size must be good enough to go on a standard business card,in the return portion of a business envelope and on a shirt pocket of a uniform or logo apparel without losing brand identity.
