Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

I need a new logo design for a dog & cat animal hospital located outside of Portland, Oregon. We are a general practice, offering medical, surgical and dental services to our patients. I want an "approachable" or even "whimsical" feel to the logo without it looking cartoon-ish. I've attached a logo i really like from another practice i owed, and i like the concept of having individual blocks containing different animal related elements -perhaps a heart, paw print, whiskers, etc. -but I want the new logo to be softer and less "angular." A color palette is also attached -primary color should be dark red (burgundy), accented with dark purple and/or dark orange.
