Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung
Our conference entitled: The Call and Response Conference is a gathering of African American believers and christians of other ethnicities to discuss issues of race, justice, and faithfulness to the gospel in 21st century America. The phrase “call and response” comes from the African American preaching tradition in which the congregation responds verbally to the words of the preaching, thereby helping and enlivening the message. Our conference will examine what God is calling us to do in the present moment and how we should respond. We would like a logo that evokes this black preaching tradition or somehow conveys the call and response dynamic. Also something that is distinctively black and Christian would be welcome.

Hello we have quite a few submissions with figures and silhouettes. At this point, we want to give you all the freedom to be creative and try a few things outside of those parameters. Feel free to create something that fits with the stated themes of the conference that focus on American American Christianity.

- A drawing of different color/shades of brown people heads or full body, or silhouettes would be fine. the new blackish image is an example (see photos). We also want to also be mindful of the generational mix in addition to gender mix.
- • Another option was to have a couple head shots on one side of the title calling out (see example of attached image) and a couple head shots on the other side of the title with listening ears (see example of attached image). If those were drawn then we could get diverse representation there, but even if they use silhouettes (no facial features) with different shades of brown and hair options, that might also work.
- • Since we plan to include the words "the" and "conference" in the logo title, I think we need to ensure that the words "call and response" are most prominent. See the drawing below. Then the artist can either design something around the title or to the side.
