No abstract logos, please. Since debugging means resolving problems in software code, the idea behind the name 'DebugWave' should be very clear--a wave that fixes issues in software in a simple, comfort and reliable way. We believe that the logo should reflect that idea.

Here's an answer to one of the designers working on the project. May be useful for others as well:

We are not after a specific type of design. What we are looking for is a high-quality logo as described in the brief.

The problem with your design is that it's not functional; it's just a set of elements the relation between which is not clear. Is it supposed to mean that we put gears in water for some purpose? Or wash them? Does the circle around them mean we try to put them together or combine somehow?

We expect every element of the logo explaining something about the technology, its purpose and qualities, and not making more questions and puzzling users on what the sign on the logo is about.

Please don't send the same design several times putting it on T-shirts, walls, papers, etc. A plain flat version does the work.

Then, if your logo requires some explanation, then it won't do.

It seems combining the D and W letters doesn't work. The reason is that these letters themselves are not of any importance in terms of the technology. We already have the text 'DebugWave' in the logo, so why to duplicate it in the sign, which is the most precious part of the logo?

Added another image to the brief. May give some more ideas.

We need a wave that is not too calm and not too high. What we are trying to express is that there's a debug wave, it's coming, it will do its work and then go away. It shouldn't look dangerous. Thanks.

Regarding the recently added image. Please don't take it wrong, it just demonstrates another approach to drawing waves as opposed to combining them from separate pieces and is not supposed to serve as an exact example of what the logo should look like. The image is schematic, but we want waves that look more natural. Thanks.
