Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

The Cultural Research Centre is an interdisciplinary research centre operating within the National University of Singapore’s Department of Communications and New Media, and focused under the research theme of Communicative Cities in Asia.

Officially: "The CRC is an interdisciplinary research incubator which brings together world class researchers from across the University working in the areas of migration, mobility and transnational citizenship, contemporary art and the cultural public sphere, new media and social connection, and urbanism and cultural planning. The CRC will provide a dynamic research environment through its diverse research, research training, and engagement activities."

As such, we want our logo to reflect this research theme, institutional affiliation, and methodology, and give the CRC a distinctive brand image. Overall a stark colour palette with maybe one colour for an accent so it’ll stand out on business cards, and be social media buttonable. It should be minimalist, not showy, but highly brandable.

Ideas I’m thinking of ATM include:

1) Simply CRC in a designer font (perhaps some Asian-style brushstrokes to reflect the geographic locality of the CRC, but with some high-tech embellishments thrown in?) I’ve always found red and black on white/ green and black on white an arresting colour scheme for vector art.

2) Something extremely minimalist and distinctive like the LG logo or the Volkswagen logo. There’d be space to add in a short CRC slogan (eg: “Dots Connected” somewhere on the business card if needed.

3) A streamlined logo w/ geometric shapes evoking a new media company like Vox’s or Pintrest’s.

I’m open to more ideas if you have them.
