Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

Toybox Labs is a company specializing in bespoke software for academics. Our clients are professors and researchers in the cognitive sciences (especially pyschology, childhood development, linguistics, education and training). We are an original and groundbreaking company, the first to operate in this niche.

Until now most researchers commissioning software have done so using general software developers. As such, most of our potential clients are unfamiliar with the idea that a company like ours could exist.

Our specialization is our competitive advantage. In the past, researchers have experienced miscommunications and mismatched expectations when working with developers who are unfamiliar with the objectives and requirements of academic clients.

As such, our most important requirement is communication of our speciality. When looking at our logo, it should be instantly obvious that we specialize in research & academia.

Some brainstormed ideas include:

- test tube / information flowing out of test tube
- brain image to emphasize that we work mainly in the area of cognitive science
- incorporate graphs/statistics into the logo, especially unusual or eye catching data visualiations

No logos revolving primarily around DNA, atoms, mathematical symbols etc. This is the right idea, but we deal with the soft sciences, not the hard sciences. We could theoretically accept a design with one of these as a minor element.

IMPORTANT: Many of the ideas above are a little cliche. Our company is fresh, original and trailblazing. We would especially welcome designs that reflect that, while still communicating the crucial idea that this is a research-focussed company. We would also welcome designs that emphasize the playfulness or creativity involved in designing experiments.

We are happy to consider any color choices, and logos with or without text. As far as incorporating text into the logo, we could consider either the company name, or possibly a short description such as "software for academics" or "software for research".
