Thank you so much for the invitation. This would be a fun project that I'd love to work on.

It would be helpful for me (and any other designer wanting to participate) to know how this graphic is going to be used and what dimensions you want it to be.

Thanks again,

Eva

I''m actually looking for a few examples of how you would illustrate the boy and a sample scene.  Based on the style, you''ll win the book and we can discuss the exact dimensions.  This is the first time I''ve used this service so I don''t know exactly how it works.  If it''s easier to give you a few sample pages and you work designs from them, I can do that (see below).  When it comes to a children''s book the illustrations really tell the story so I''m hoping to break down the pages based on how the illustrator best wants to get the message across.  As I mentioned in the brief I''m flexible.

This is Jimmy. This  is his bottle. It’s not just an ordinary bottle though. This is Jimmy’s special bottle. Why is his bottle so special? Let metell you the story.

It was a hot summer morning and Jimmy woke up excited becausehe was visiting Grandma today.  He gotout of bed, stretched his arms and put on his favorite t-shirt.  He brushed his teeth, washed his face andhands, and turned off the light.  Hereached for a pair of pants and his most comfortable shoes because it was along walk to Grandmas.

Jimmy hurried downstairs, went to the cupboard and pickedout his favorite cereal.

When he finished his breakfast, he walked over to the sinkto wash his dishes because that’s what big boys do.  As he turned to walk out the  door, he saw the cereal box and empty bottleof milk still on the table.  Jimmy putthe box back in the cupboard and just as he picked up the bottle to throw inthe trash, he had an idea.

“I know,” he thought.“I’ll fill this bottle with water and bring it with me in case I getthirsty.”  He knew it was going to be ahot day.

He walked along the sidewalk for a while. He went down onestreet and up another until a little dog started following behind him.  The dog barked at Jimmy, who turned and said,“What’s the matter little doggy?”

The dog just staredat Jimmy and barked again.  Then Jimmyhad another idea.  “Maybe he’s thirsty!I’ll share my water with him!”  He openedhis bottle and poured a little into the palm of his hand for the littledog.  The dog licked the water as fast ashe could. Before he knew it, the water was all gone and the bottle was emptyagain.

That's a great story! Unfortunately, the file you posted appears more hand drawn with pastels and as a graphic artist I'm not confident that I could give you the style you're looking for.
Best of luck to you!

Eva

Hi, That's a lovely story for lovely boy.
Can you please Specify that boy Jimmy belongs to which country and city. That would be more helpful to illustrate him.

Of course! He''d be American.  Clean cut and the book is summer time so either a tshirt and shorts or jeans?  That''s whats in my head at least but if you have a better idea I''m open!

HI

Thank you so much for the invite to you project.
I have uploaded a design layout for page 1 and 2, using a 8x8" book size, please let me know if this is the style you are looking for and I will do layouts for the other pages.

Kind Regards
Tanya

How many illustration are need?

Currently I have upload three which I finished working on. I am still busy with the one of using the bottle for rolling the bread at his grandma's. I would like to know how he used it for flowers and the balloon.

Thanks

Of course! With the balloons it's judged as a weight (he fills it with sand and ties the balloons to the top neck). And for the flowers, it's a simple vase that he hands his mom filled with the flowers he picks from the yard.

Thanks for your detail!

Hi,
I just submitted a general watercolor illustration showing my style with the boy and a balloon and the bottle. I see know how the balloon is used etc.. and can make those drawings if you decide you like my illustration. Thank you.
Lilly
