UPDATE: After reviewing the first 150 designs, the vast bulk of which are clearly inappropriate, I am adding the following additional explanation:

1. Please do not include any kind of picture or my initials.That's why I selected "Wordmark Logo" from the logo style. Only the text please. Something like a line separating my name from the word "Barrister" is OK.

2. Dimitri is my first name and Ternovski is my last name. So any emphasis should be on Ternovksi, not on Dimitri.

3. As I explained in the initial version of the brief, the design is to be used on letterhead and email signature, not on a shop sign. Paper is generally white so it has to work on a white background.

I need a new design for my logo.

I am an Australian barrister - what Americans would call a "trial lawyer".

Barristers are required to practise as individual sole traders. We are not permitted to incorporate or have any partners or employed lawyers. Hence, my "brand" is simply my name.

I currently have a "logo" that consists of my name (Dimitri Ternovski) and the word Barrister in Futura font (see attached). I use it in my email signature and on my letterhead.

While I am generally happy with the current logo, I am looking to upgrade it to something perhaps a little more sophisticated.

The overall look and feel of the logo should reflect the fact that I trade as an individual rather than as a firm. In other words, a super corporate look probably won't work.

I am going for a modern clean look, not something quaint and squiggly. I use Google Open Sans as the standard font on my paperwork and the logo should fit it what that sort of style.

I wouldn't mind a colour version but it needs to look good when printed in monochrome because I almost always provide my paperwork electronically so I can't control whether it's printed in colour (and usually, it won't be).
