UPDATED BRIEF:
I'm just updating the brief to enable any new submissions to come up with their own ideas. I have tried to offer my ideas below, but I am too close to the project therefor any new submissions are probably best using your talent. The main thing is it stands out and someone would want to buy it against the competition. All submissions have been excellent, so to be fair I will put the winning vote to family and friends. I am too close and biased to make the final choice.
This book is part memoire/ part biography/ part diary/ part self help.
My world is falling apart. I use the analogy of being lost at see. This book is my ships log. It could be a torn out PAGE of the log, a POSTER, or A MESSAGE a bottle.
It needs to be clear in the title, so MID LIFE CRISIS needs to stand out. WTF could be a wax seal, like a stamp. 'I'm having a' and 'I'm failing in life' are less important. The title is: WTF I'm having a MID LIFE CRISIS I'm failing in life.
Other subliminal random words are: family, paranoia, sex addiction, depression, marriage, divorce.
The other idea is flame red. Needs to be subtle to show my life is going up in flames. The diary page/poster/note should be singed or worn.
Ideally text font should be bespoke. Whether some or all are slightly wonky to show that my life is falling apart.
Octopus bottom left with tentacles spread over spine is a firm favourite
Text on spine needs to be large to stand out. Open to suggestions but nothing over simple.Good luck
