Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

Setting up a brand new small animal (dogs, cats, rabbits and everything smaller!)Veterinary Clinic in Cornwall- England, a county that centres on a coastal and rural lifestyle.
A lot of the existing clinics/practices in the county have very boring logos and I would like something modern (as in fresh) and slick, but professional and almost traditional (even though that is contradictory!?). I want the design theme to look like a trusted brand, not a ‘gimmick’ animal friendly brand (no paw prints, no cartoons). No classic medical green or bright blue! I do not have an idea of what colour scheme would be ideal for the brand image; I like coastal and country colours.
Things that could be incorporated, none essential, just potential ideas:
-Edhen is the Cornish word for Bird, which is the name of my dog. A subtle flying bird could be included in the logo ( a thin V shape silhouette).
-Edhen to be written not in CAPS, Edhen looks a lot better then EDHEN.
-emphasis on the coastal / rural area that I am based in, aspen trees are prevalent as is the coastline/Sea.
