Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

Looking to create a iconic logo for a new student management system that will be used by education institutions (i.e. primary & secondary schools, universities). Would like a logo that is interesting, designed to capture the audience attention at first glance that can be used for marketing purposes. Below is just a guide of my requirements. I am open to other creative ideas:

- Style: Simple, minimalistic
- Theme: school theme. I like the blackboard look/feel (example provided)
- Colour: black & white
- An object, figure or character to accompany the logo (like the monkey or the figure in the graduation hat in the example) - potentially to use as mobile device app icon
