Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

A support organization for a historic, colonial era tavern located in Alexandria, Virginia (USA) wants to revise its dated logomark (https://www.gadsbystavernmuseum.us/). The tavern was the original "room where it happened" since all of the first six presidents met, slept and/or dined in its rooms given its proximity to Washington DC and George Washington's Mount Vernon home. The organization requesting the logomark is a charitable organization with a mission to fundraise to sustain the tavern's museum and to advocate its preservation. Key attributes of Gadsby's Tavern are: George Washington (it was his "Cheers"--"everybody knew his name"); American and Alexandrian colonial history; civic community; the importance of tavern life in early America and its contribution to the American discourse and debate. The key attribute of the support organization is its focus on historical preservation that contributes towards the present day vitality of the City of Alexandria and its community.

When asked what logos would be its friends, board members suggested William & Mary (https://www.wm.edu/); Mount Vernon (https://www.mountvernon.org/); City Tavern - Philadelphia (https://www.citytavern.com/); and Jessups Tavern (https://jessops-tavern.com/).

There's no clear preference for colors but there's a desire to express both a respect and dynamism in historic preservation. That's one reference point but designers should feel free to research their own references.

We're looking for two version: one standard version and one that riffs on the standard version in celebration of our 30th anniversary--ideally, using "30"|"30th"| or "30th Anniversary" as a key element of this anniversary version.
