Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

We (Universal Solar Americas) currently have an outdated logo (attached). Also, our business model has changed recently. We have built and are opening a solar PV panel factory in Panama, right on the Panama Canal. The company will be manufacturing solar panels for both the US and Central American markets to start. The logo should encompass some depiction of solar energy or the sun, along with the red, white and blue for both Panama and USA colors. My boss would like to keep a version of the "World Map" that you will see in our current logo (attached).
We would also like to incorporate the Panama flag and/or portions of the flag, since it has the blue and red stars. Maybe faintly behind a World map or something along those lines. I've included an image of something I had created with the tools at hand. Not saying it has to look like this, but should give you a better idea of the direction we would like to go. Please know that we are open to new creative ideas.
