I'm not sure what you mean by that comment, but...whatever. I don't recall if you submitted a design or not, but if you did, I'd be happy to tell you why I didn't choose yours if you want to refresh my memory.

Well, thanks so much for making me feel bad about my decision. Very helpful.

sorry it was´t my intention, I just to point out that some guys claim to be a designer and just copy-paste some one else work and try to fool you.

Oh, that wasn't your intention? You're lying to yourself. What exactly was your intention, then? What did you hope to accomplish by reaching out to a consumer that had ALREADY MADE A PURCHASE FROM A COMPETITOR and letting that consumer know that something was bad about his choice after it was too late to change it? You absolutely wanted to make me feel bad. If you're not happy about some trend in your industry, then try to fix it, and be proactive about it instead of vindictive after the fact. How? Off the top of my head, maybe bring the issue up with the potential client before the design challenge is over. You could reach out and say, "Hey, just wanted to let you know that some of these designers use artwork that is commonly found on the internet. I want to assure you that my work is 100% original." I know I'd appreciate that heads-up. Or, maybe bring it up with the management at DesignCrowd to see if they can cut down on the trend/issue. If that fails, then maybe consider not working for DesignCrowd if you don't like the trend. If enough of you original designers do that, DesignCrowd will notice and maybe make some changes. Regardless, don't try to tell me you weren't trying to make me feel bad. You were, and you should be ashamed of yourself for it. Do better.

Greetings,

I've just read this little thread and I'd like to say that I understand both points of view, that is to say, both the Designer and also the Project Owner's perspective.

I'd like to express something on my behalf as creator though. I think the Project Owner should understand there's a huge burden of frustration for us as Designers as well once our work is not considered or it seems we won't make the cut nevermind the winning entry is but generic/overused design.

*I'm pretty sure there are many entries you could still choose from that are legit.*

With my entry, for example, I was focused on highlighting some key concepts I think they're not only relevant to your brand and unique but also memorable and long-lasting. My concept was all about dynamics and motion as in 'Mechanical Design' and also fluids as in 'Plumbing' as stated in the brief. Fluid in motion, let's say a current of water running/circulating through a pipe while it is describing its own caliber. This is how bespoke design works for most of us, I'd say. After your decision, I understood you were after the letter C more than any other concept, which I of course understand. However, even though the C is relevant as well, I went with a more universal concept that -in my opinion- would help Caliber to differentiate from the rest. I created a bespoke mark that is compliant with the brief. In the end, no matter what we did, your taste makes the decision.

I'd say you should try to read the comment that triggered this thread as frustration.
It's certainly discouraging to find out that generic design beats invested creativity, time, and effort once again.

All the best,
P.-

Hi, Parallaxe -

Thanks for weighing in on this topic. I can understand his (and your) frustration with the issue, but how he brought it up is the problem here. I didn't know of this issue within your industry and could only evaluate the designs based on what I asked for and what felt was right for my company. Complaining to me - after the fact - is wrong and it comes across as sour grapes and lashing out. Complaining to DesignCrowd - and keeping me out of it - probably would've been the best course of action.

Regarding your specific design, I liked it quite a bit. If it had been submitted 10 years ago at the start of my company, I very well could've selected it. The only reason it didn't quite make the cut this time is that I felt like it was a bit too much of a departure from what I've had for 10 years. Once I started seeing designs and considering them, it became clear to me that some evolutionary version had to be the choice, which eliminated a lot of really strong designs, unfortunately.

Regardless, thanks for weighing in, and I do appreciate your effort. Best wishes to you in the future.
