Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

Overview:

Garden City Grocery is a newly launched grocery store located in a building constructed in 1951. The building’s exterior exudes a mid-century modern aesthetic, and we want the logo to harmonize with this style while also being versatile and timeless. The logo should subtly nod to the mid-century modern design era without being overly overt.

Design Goals:

Mid-Century Modern Influence: The logo should incorporate elements of mid-century modern design. Clean lines, geometric shapes, and simple forms are key. Consider integrating angles or subtle asymmetry for added interest.

Logomark Using “G” and “C”: The primary focus is on creating a logomark where the letters “G” and “C” work together seamlessly. These should form a simple, distinctive mark that is both modern and reflective of the brand’s identity.

Typography Flexibility: The logomark can incorporate the words “Garden City” in various typographic styles:

Lowercase or uppercase.

Script, serif, or sans serif fonts.

The typography should complement the logomark and feel cohesive with the mid-century modern theme.

Incorporating “Grocery”: The word “Grocery” should be included in a way that feels optional, but cohesive. The logo must remain visually effective and balanced when “Grocery” is removed.

Simple and Iconic: The logo must be clean, easy to recognize, and adaptable for various uses (e.g., signage, packaging, and digital media).

Design Inspiration:

Mid-century modern shapes and patterns: Think bold geometric forms, rounded corners, and sleek lines. Avoid a vintage retro look with shapes and patterns that belong in a Jetsons cartoon.

Subtle use of angles or unique shapes to add visual interest.

Typography inspired by mid-century design (e.g., Futura, Din and Din Condensed, Avenir, or a custom stylized type).

Logo Applications:

Store signage and exterior branding.

Product packaging, labels, and promotional materials.

Digital presence, including website and social media.

Attachments:

Photos of the 1951 building for context. Designers are encouraged to consider how the logo will fit within the visual environment of this structure.

Additional Notes:

The color palette is open to interpretation but should lean toward earthy tones or colors commonly associated with the mid-century modern era (e.g., sage green, mustard yellow, burnt orange, neutral tones).

Avoid overly ornate or complex designs. The logo should feel timeless and effortless. I do not want this to look too retro. Mid Century Modern, but not overly retro.

Designers are welcome to submit variations, including those with and without the word “Grocery” and different typographic treatments for “Garden City.”

Deliverables:

A primary logo with the logomark and “Garden City Grocery” combined.

A secondary logo with only the logomark and “Garden City.” The logo shouldn't change - you are simply removing the word "Grocery".

Attached you'll find some sketches - these are ideas that I'd like to see fleshed out, but are also looking for other ideas as well. You'll also find some inspiration, as well as the grocery building as it currently is, and the architectural rendering of what it will be. This logo may be added to the far left of the front of the building, and/or at the top of the tallest point of the building. There will also be a sign in front of the parking lot with this logo or a variation of it.
