3D Design Kurzbeschreibung

We are looking for creative but practical design concepts for the design of the exterior walls, interior walls and door of a foldable living container, which is used as a mobile pop-up hotel room for events (festivals, trade fairs, corporate events).

The container will be at:
Festivals
Sporting events
Trade Fairs & Corporate Events

It is used and therefore must appear modern, high-quality and universally applicable.

👉 Important:
This is not about a logo or branding, but about surface design of a real existing product.

2. The goal of the design
The new exterior design is intended to:
appear more modern and mature than the current wood look
architecturally, calmly and high-quality appear
Visually conceal signs of wear, scratches and dirt
function in very different environments
Be durable and timeless (not a trendy look)

The new interior design should:
to create a warm, cozy feeling, appearing more modern and mature than the current wood look
architecturally, calmly and high-quality appear

In short:
👉 Pop-up hotel instead of event decoration.

3. Initial situation (important for the design)
The container is foldable.
The following occur during setup and dismantling:
- occasional horizontal scratch marks inside
- The pop-up hotel rooms are used at 30-40 outdoor events per year. Solid-color surfaces on interior surfaces are prone to dirt and dust accumulation, resulting in high project costs for interior wall cleaning.

The exterior and interior surfaces consist of:
smooth sandwich panels
Printed via UV direct printing

Large, contiguous areas
→ The design must be scalable and calm.

Reference images (current state & first design proposal) will be uploaded.

4. Design guidelines (very important)

Horizontal panel or strip structure
(conceals scratches & dirt better)
Abstract, graphic design
Calm, natural color scheme:
e.g. wood-inspired (but not photorealistic)
Sand, greige, warm grey
Clearly structured surfaces

Architectural appeal
✔ Door design

The door should deliberately stand out from the wall surfaces.
Solid color or very calm

Accent color e.g. :
dark green
Grey-Green
anthracite

Not the same pattern/color as the walls

❌ Please avoid
Photorealistic wood textures
playful patterns or colorful designs
Strong vertical stripes as the main motif
Very light-colored, dirt-prone solid surfaces
"Festival look" or decorative look

5. Inside & Outside (Context)

The interior of the container is:
warm
homely
horizontally structured
rather quiet and high-quality

👉 The exterior design can be more modern and clearer, but should not be in strong contrast to the interior.

6. What we expect from you (contest submission)

Please submit:
1-2 design concepts for the exterior view

Display as:
simple mockups

3D view or flat visualization on container shape

Brief description:
Design idea
Color concept
why the design is robust & durable

👉 Perfect print data is not (yet) necessary in the contest, but should be able to be supplied in the next step.
We are looking for the best design direction, not the final clean drawing.

The designs will be evaluated according to:
Functionality (concealing scratches/dirt)

9. Budget & Outlook

Contest budget: max. €200
The contest serves to develop concepts and directions.

10. Concluding remarks
We are primarily looking for strong design concepts and directions.
Final production artwork will be refined after the contest.
