Buchumschlag Design Kurzbeschreibung
Designers! 28 October 2025 was a day I will never forget. I am writing a book about my experience.
Surviving Melissa is a gripping, first-person account of surviving the first-ever Category 5 hurricane to directly strike Jamaica. The narrative follows a father, his girlfriend, and their 20-month-old son as they endure three weeks of total infrastructure collapse—no water, power, or cellular service.
Unlike a typical disaster memoir, this book focuses on modern preparedness and self-reliance. It details the strategic use of solar power (Jackery units), satellite technology (Starlink), and the psychological resilience required to protect a family while the island’s landscape is literally rewritten by 160mph winds. It is a story of survival, the "inconvenience of convenience" regarding elderly parents, and the hard lessons learned about government and infrastructure fragility.

I will be requesting a file for an e-book, paperback, hardcover, and audible. High-resolution front cover (for eBook). Full wrap (Front, Spine, and Back) for print (Amazon KDP/IngramSpark specs). Source files (AI, PSD, or EPS). I would like a jpg mock-up for marketing purposes once finalized.

Muss haben
- Tone: Intense, authentic, resilient, and sophisticated. It should feel like a "Journalistic Memoir" meets a "Survival Guide." Visual Style: High contrast. I want to see a juxtaposition between the chaos of nature (darkness, storm, destroyed palms) and the glow of human resilience (light from a solar generator, a safe room, or a glowing window). Color Palette: Deep storm grays, teals, and blacks, contrasted with "survival orange" (evoking Jackery/preparedness gear) or a warm, safe yellow light. Main Title: Surviving Melissa (Must be bold, commanding, and easily readable in thumbnail size). Subtitle: Resilience, Solar Power, and the Category 5 hurricane that Changed Jamaica (Clean, modern sans-serif). Author Name: Dr. Paul Prosper
Schön zu haben
- The Storm’s Power: Imagery of the catastrophic wind or the "270-degree turn" on a satellite map. Massive, uprooted tropical trees (the "toy trees" mentioned in the book). Modern Survival Tech: A subtle nod to solar panels or a portable power station. The concept of "Light in the Darkness." The Human Element: A silhouette of a family, or a small, poignant item like a child’s toy (representing the author's son, Kyrie) amidst the debris. Jamaican Identity: Subtle Caribbean cues—the shape of the island, tropical flora (even if damaged), or colors that hint at the Jamaican flag without being cliché. The "Sanctuary": The idea of an interior "safe room" or closet being the last line of defense.
