Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

I need a logo to represent our organization to be used on all print and digital materials. We are a historical society in Manchester, MI. Manchester was established in 1867. It is on a river, it has a historical grist mill building and a working blacksmith shop. It was know for raising sheep and is surrounded by farmland on rolling hills. We would like a logo that represents a few of these items.

Also the logo should be flexible enough to be printed large and small, as well as on a light background or on a dark background (reversed out?)
