Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

I'm designing a poker chip for my home game. I saw a logo on another site created by a designer who is also a designer here, I think.
I want the poker chip to say: "THE ANGRY MALLARD POKER ROOM"
I want it to have a mallard head similar to the one on this page: http://www.logomyway.com/logo/172/The-Mallard.html

I want it to have a textured look like a ducks actual feathers. The main thing is that it Look angry, look like a mallard, and look cool. I want the background to be black. And I want the eyes to be red.

Also I would like the outline of the state of Arkansas to be behind the duck head.

I'm not a designer by any stretch, but I did mock up a chip in photoshop as I general idea. Feel free to get creative with it. Especially with the incorporation of the state outline. I think it could be much better and less conspicuous than I have it there. Im flexible on the font if you have one that works better than the one I've chosen.

Also I included a picture showing the full range of color chips I will have, with the denomination text color being the same as the chip outer ring. I include this just to give you the full picture of what Im looking for.

Hi,

What inspired this chip was the design of these two poker chips.
1 http://www.apollonchips.com/chipseries/the-ravenor.html
2 http://www.apollonchips.com/chipseries/lucid-diamond.html

I want the elegance and class of these chips, but with an Angry Mallard as the center piece. This may be harder to do than I thought using colors other than gray and white. Im really liking the designs Ive seen so far, but the just aren't as integrated into the black as the mock up I made using Regio Scaly mallard seen here, http://www.logomyway.com/logo/172/The-Mallard.html.

My hope is that one of you comes up with something better than Ive imagined in my head. But if I had to lay out the best visual image Ive seen in my head so far, that scaly mallard with the red eyes is it because it manages to blend so well with the black background and white lettering.

I may have been asking for too much for it to be in color. If you could take the outline of the state, and put a duck head with a similar look to the one Regio designed, only change the scales to have a more feathered look, that would be what Im looking for. And if it has to be more gray than green to accomplish that then so be it.

In the long run I want the design to be as simple as possible, classy, yet convert that pissed off mallard look. I think I was flawed in thinking I could have all the colors and utilize the duck feet, and tail feather and still be able to pull that off. I was cluttering up the design.

So please take these points, and forget what I said about the feet, and tail feather. If dark green can be used Im all for it, but it may be that a black, gray and white inlay will be what Im looking for.

Lots of good designs to look at this morning. I will think on them today and give some feedback tonight.

Ok from the designs Ive seen there are two types that are standing out to me.

First let me say that Im sorry if some of you misunderstood that I wanted the duck to look just like the logo I posted. That was just for reference, to show the direction I wanted the duck to look, which is straight ahead, and the red eyes. But as stated before I do not want snake eyes or reptile scales, but rather red duck eyes, with green feathers.
With a non-cartoonish, angry look. Its ok if it looks animated, just don't want cartoonish. Think "Stars Wars The Clone Wars" animated tv show, vs "Bugs Bunny".  I don't want the "Bugs Bunny" look, but animated is ok. Just realistic animation.

So far two designs have stood out as far as the red eyes, green feathers angry looking duck.

One other design option that I threw out was an all white and black chip with the duck head and lettering being white and the background being black.

One design has come in that really hits the mark on that. Im not sure I want to go that route because the feedback I get is that its hard to tell its a duck when it all white. But if one of you wants to try that option and can pull it off so that ppl who don't know its a duck can tell its a duck you are welcome to try.

As far as the State Logo I want it to be in the background and discrete as possible. The opposite of the duck in the fact that if you don't know that its the outline of Arkansas, then it just looks like something in the background, but isn't distracting to the rest of the chip.

Reason: To give the designers who just accepted the invitations a chance to submit a design and to allow more time to the designers who have already submitted to make any changes they need to.

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: Chance to get some feedback over the weekend.
Added Friday, April 18, 2014

Ok Im going to create a poll tonight and send it to some friends and acquaintances and get some feedback from them. Ill sort through the feedback and see if they see anything I haven't thought of, and get that back to you asap. Hopefully I can wrap this up next Tuesday.Thank you all for the designs, and for working with me as I try to get this right. I am going to have the expense of getting this printed on 1000 or more custom chips so Im trying my best to make sure its right, and I appreciate you all helping me do that.

If there are any questions or feedback you have for me, now is the time to ask. Tonight until midnight US Central Time I will give feedback and answer any questions on designs I received today.

Again thank you all for the great designs, you guys are amazing.

Project Deadline Extended
Added Wednesday, April 23, 2014

OK  I extended the deadline for the final time. I have it down to 4 designers, whom I have communicated with extensively in the last 48 hours. I will make a decision at the end of this week.

It is going to be a very hard decision. As  I said before I will have a considerable investment in the poker chips to get them made so I have a lot of things to consider because Im going to be stuck with whatever design I choose with no way to modify it on the chips, so what it is... is what it is.
The design has evolved as the designs have come, and I have been exposed to new ideas I hadn't even thought of. This has been a really fun but stressful process. Not in a bad way, just trying to do the best I can and get it right, and give you guys as much input and direction as I can, while letting your creativity and talent have free reign to interpret my vision.

I look forward to the end of this process, and thank ALL the designers who have taken the time to submit, and especially the ones who have worked with me on changes.
