Thanks again for all the submissions.  I am going to try and provide some better guidance.  First, please ensure your designs follow the Android design guidelines.

Colors - I am partial to reds, blues, gray, blacks

I have two ideas that may or may not look good.  I tried to draw them but I am terrible at it so I will try and explain.

1) An picture that has film wrapped around it.  Similar to this icon here.  However, I would like the film to be a little wider and it would be interesting for the film to have some transparency or something.  Maybe show negative images in there for high res icon size.  Let's get some concepts and we will dig into details later.

2) Icon that morphs from photo to film.  So, on one side it looks like an image and on the other it looks like film.  The transition should be smooth and it would be interesting to see the image go from photo to negative.  Maybe have some transparency on film side.

Here is a list of main program features.  This might help with ideas:

  • Organize using Albums or create Smart Albums for automatic organization
  • Password protect images so no gallery app will see them
  • Include or exclude folders to see only what you want
  • Browse images by Tags
  • View images by Ratings
  • Optimized for Tablets
  • Save zoom and position for each image
  • Reads information directly from your images
  • Slideshow with transitions
  • Different sort types.
  • Correctly reads the date image was taken from information inside photo
  • Options to view images in Grid and List configurations

I added an update to the dashboard layout.  I am still not sure about colors or background but I think I like this better.  I also attached the Adobe Illustrator file in case you found it useful in designing the icon.

I had some ideas that I threw together really fast.  Maybe a lens in front of a blank Polaroid with the holders that you would find in an album.  I would also like to see the aperture stand out in maybe red or blue.  Around the edge of the lens it should say F-Stop Media Gallery in white.  This would only be visible in higher res images.  I posted some concepts only.  These images were just pulled from the web and I want original or copyright free images.  The aperture does look a little like Apples Aperture logo so please make it look somewhat different.  I'll leave it up to you. Also, if we can add a film or video element that would be great but not necessary.

I have some cool ideas.


1) How about seeing the reflection of stacked images or gallery in the reflection of a lens?  Not sure how it would look.  Just an idea.
