Great question - thank you for asking it. I've done more research

I like the very clean and monochromatic looks to many of these. I don't have to have monochromatic, but I do like minimal colors. Simple, clean, organized. The home page should "fit" almost entirely without scrolling. I do like fat footers that you can scroll down to. I don't want a colored background, but any that I've chosen with colored backgrounds could be switched to a white background.

These last two are more corporate sites. The first one is from a well-respected consultant in my area who does a lot of what I do. And I think Deloitte does a nice job with their site. So, I want to marry the look I like with getting the content job done.
