These can include manufacturing, health & medical, power generation, and more. We use infrared thermography, vibration analysis, ultrasonic thickness testing, dynamic balancing and other practices to provide predictive maintenance to our customers. HISTORY
VIS, LLC was founded in March 1984, which emerged from the United States Steel Corporation’s Research Center, Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Its founders headed the Thermography and Photoinstrumentation Department of that facility.
While at the U. S. Steel Research Center, they established the utilization of thermography as a valuable tool for evaluating equipment and facilities in the steel industry. Their work set the standards for the use of thermography in the steel industry that continues today with VIS. Although the original thermographic equipment was crude, bulky and slow, VIS has maintained its position as an industry leader. Today VIS uses the most technologically advanced infrared systems available for on-site nondestructive industrial inspections.
In addition, while at U. S. Steel Research, the founders of VIS pioneered the use of photographic cameras and high-speed motion pictures as another form of a predictive and preventative maintenance tool. Specially constructed camera systems with thermal protective housings were developed for inspecting blast furnace interior stockline armor areas, stove domes, and other high-temperature areas.
Today VIS remains on the cutting-edge in providing a wide range of nondestructive inspection services to industry.
