Hi Javier

Not one which will be much use to you at the moment. This is a new market for our business, our normal print is for promotional calendars, diaries and business cards. The BrunelPrint website is being developed as we speak!

There are however 3 websites you could visit which will give you a feel as to the type of printing / effects that we will be able to create from September and which I'd like the "look book" to reflect.

www.scodix.com
www.motioncutter.com
www.hp.com/go/graphic-arts

Thank you for the invite, however your brief doesn't provide any content for me to work with, at least that I can see. You mentioned a 30 page document, but if that's the case we'd need the actual content (wording, titles, images and so forth). If the pages are simply meant to show off certain printing techniques, then we'd need to know specifically what each of those are before we design anything for them.

For instance, you've specified that "Each page/image needs to “flow” / follow a story line... Each page will also need to incorporate at least 30 words of text to explain the substrate used and effects created" however as designers we're not privy to how your business works, what it offers and how it's unique, so we can't name or describe these things for you.

Also, any photographic imagery that isn't provided by you will likely need to be purchased from a stock photography archive before it can be used.

Hi Atlas

I'm sorry you didn't find the brief helpful. It was a difficult brief to post over the web without being able to physically show examples of the substrates and finishes we can deploy which is why I previously posted the links to 3 other websites which specifically demonstrate / explain these. Most of our competitors just use a "swatch" book and I wanted something a bit more unusually & engaging to help us to stand out from the rest.

Re the photo's, we are a primarily a calendar producing company so we already have access to numerous photo libraries. So here I was looking for some sort of theme to the photos, from the designer, which would make us stand out ,were related in some way and which we could then source appropriate shots to best illustrate the techniques / substrates we can use.

Re the text, the content doesn't really matter at this stage just how 30 words will be incorporated from a design perspective on each individual page, i.e. font , boxes position etc.

Hope this helps

John

Thanks venously

I appreciate that the lead tim is short however the project was posted 23rd July with a 10 day submission date of 2nd August. For some strange reason despite 10+ acceptances I have only had one design which unfortunately was not on brief ( they'd redesigned the motion cutter brochure which I'd attached for background information only!). I have therefore agreed to extend the deadline to this Friday, 8th August.

Any questions / clarification please get back to me. Looking forward to seeing your ideas.

John

Hello.

Thanks for your invitation. I would love to work on this project, if you can please extend the project. I will be working on this during weekend and I can send my preview at Monday.

Thanks and have a nice day.

Hi Dub

That would be fine, but please see the previous comments posted. Some designers seem to have got the wrong end of the stick as to what a printer's look book needs to be. Instead they have posted a re -worked brochure of the attachments I attached. The supplier attachment and web site links were only attached to show the machine's capability and are not part of our business. Don't want you wasting your time. Any questions please come back to me.

John

Thanks for the invite but in my part of the world the amount of work you are asking seems quite a lot and the amount of money is quite low. You being in the industry will know this. Thanks anyway.

To emphasize the above designer's, Matters of Art, and my point as well, this design requires significant and arduous amount of work from the designer for an unfairly disproportional pay.
