Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

My husband Andy Nelson is turning 70 on Sept. 17th. We're having a family golf trip in Montana to celebrate. I want to have some hats, shirts, koozies, etc. printed with a family-crest type design - kind of whimsical/not too serious. I'd like it to have the following elements:
* a "shield" shape as the center
* instead of crossed golf clubs behind the shield - one ski and one golf club
* a black lab dog on top - doesn't have to be too realistic, could be cartoon-ish
* a banner or ribbon below or across the shield with lettering saying "The Boss is 70"
* elsewhere possibly the name Nelson, and/or the date September 17, 2014
* other possible elements if there's room: American flag, golf ball,
* the shield could be green/orange plaid (or not - just an idea)
* I'd like it to be relatively simple, fun, not too ornate like some actual family crests
